Around the World was a collaborative zine made with Andy Day, and Ryan Benson. We took the viewer on a trip around the world to the different big fashion events during the calendar year. With each event we included a page to showcase the various ways of sustainable transportation between these locations.

Dear Citizens... is an information guide on how to reimagine World War II propaganda in a modernist view, and is essentially a how-to guide for others to follow. There are added elements of redaction to emulate the layouts of how government documents are released to the public for viewing and research purposes. This was a heavily research based project looking into the aesthetic of propaganda during the war effort as compared to the aesthetic of today’s advertising efforts.

Recirculated explores the nature of recirculating a piece of text, and empasizing the design choices that emulate the purpose of the text. This was a republication of chapter 1 of “The Memory Police” by Yoko Ogawa, looking into typefaces that emphasized the plot of the book: your memories being taken from you. This was a “pocket” book full of your memories.

Replication explores the repetitive process of iteration. I made the same recipe of muffins over and over again to see if I could “perfect” them. With each iteration I invited viewers to try a muffin, then rate it on elements, such as its’ density, flavor, color, texture.

Strawberry is a collaborative project made with Ian Covert, Sarah Gibson, Lucas Lee, and Emmie Osuyah. This was made to accompany a quilt another class at VCU was making and then being gifted to a patient in hospice care at the VCU hospital. The book was made to be emulative of childhood nostalgia in the form of a children’s book to give the patient that feeling again.

Write Back Please is a handmade, handwritten zine that was based off of my passion for handwriting cards to other people and holding onto the memories they come with. I wrote letters to the people I love for this project. An excerpt from it reads “To future me: I have full faith in you that we can accomplish everything we want to. I won't think any less of you if you went back to Towne after graduating. That is why we got the minor anyways. From: current you.“

Battlefield is a collection of postcard maps of the World War II battlesites. They are meant to be satirical with phrases like “wish you were here” or “greetings from”. This book was made to romanticize these horrific battles from an outside look into the aesthetic of WWII propaganda and take a modern spin on it.

Free is a book based on a speculative world. This world is built on the foundation of all resources being free for everyone; eliminating the hierarchy created between rich and poor. This idea stemmed from the fact that a lot of people don’t take the medicines they need to stay alive simply because they can not afford them. The book is formatted to have the receipt of what someone ordered, followed by their resources.
